When your readers got your back, you're in a good place

We at The Rochester Voice are thankful for our two families: our own and The Rochester Voice family, more than 3,000 who have subscribed to our digital daily and about 35,000 more who enjoy all of our free content.

Our readers are not only informed; they're smart.

A couple of days ago we were going through our daily routine of news budgeting, figuring out what needed to be done, what should be done and what could wait.

In the midst of posting several stories we made an error in a headline, which was promptly brought to our attention by a reader who posted on The Rochester Voice Facebook page.

After we fixed the headline and deleted the Facebook post that also included the mistake, we realized belatedly that the reader who made us aware of the boo boo didn't get their due.

So, to them I say thank you. Keep up the good work!

We try to read every story twice plus run it through spell check, but when you're processing thousands of words a day, well, it happens.

In the past I've worked at newspapers that give every story four, sometimes five reads, and some that just give them one.

So to all our readers, please don't be shy. If you see a mistake or have a question about a story just email therochestervoice@aol.com

And while you're out shopping today on Small Business Saturday please consider purchasing a subscription to The Rochester Voice. We are a small Rochester business, too. We have a sale on through Dec. 6 for just $20 a year, $50 off the regular price.

Happy shopping!
