When the city charges you $40 for a ream of docs ... and rain ... you just got 'reamed'

To the editor:

I became interested in attending the Rochester City Council Meeting on Dec 19, because of Mr Raymond Bower's Letter to the Editor, that ran just a few days ago in the Rochester Voice. It was about a conflict between several County Delegates and The County Commissioners.

An excellent format to discuss conflicting viewpoints.

Perhaps Mr Bower didn't get the memo from the city Pulpit, that of, "Fryer" Terence O'Rourke, the City Attorney.

It's well known, he "the Fryer" has been on the "Outs" with Mr Thorp, Editor, and made it clear he refused to honor any requests for city related information.

After all is said and done we the Taxpayers will foot the bill for this foolishness.

How embarrassing it must be for the Fryer, to have Mr Bower, Executive Director to the Strafford County Commissioners, Usurp his Powers to keep the likes of the Rochester Voice at bay, within the City management's purview.

I ask: Should there be a requirement that correspondence like this, be under city review before anything is submitted?

Keep this up, and soon they'll be trying to regulate and Tax the rainwater that falls in your yard. Remember, Rain is your fault.

It was quite a night. NH State Representative and Strafford County Delegate Cliff Newton, expressed his disdain for the city's treatment, when he legally requested information from the city. He did so by beginning his allotted time to speak by dropping the "Ream," of paper, the city presented him on a nearby stand. The little stand was structurally sound, This Time!

The word "Ream" as a Homonym, takes on its use well also as a verb.

So, why is Rochester imbedded so much with Waste Management ?

The City Planner (i believe) was touting new construction for, gas and hazardous contamination storage on the site.

I ask, because, what was promised to the Taxpayers initially, many years ago, was that this useable fuel would benefit the City of Rochester.

Instead, all fuel is designated and piped 26 Miles to UNH.

This fuel is Allegedly ONLY for use by the University.

For the record; is this in Perpetuity ... Never to change?

This City Body needs to provide Documentation on this.

Why is the City Planner so emotionally involved with this particular project?

Now - the City and State have opened the "Gas Gate" to supply even more fuel for this "Cultural Diversity Center." (YES = The CDC) = UNH!

Furthermore, expanding this facility by leaps and bounds

Is Increasing the STINK for residents, as well as Encroaching on more private property.

This company will continue to encompass more property until Gonic has dissolved into "DumPity Dump Village!"

Soon, the main entrance to the site will be on Pickering Road.

The University is promoting itself as at the Leading Edge of Technology.

Let's encourage UNH to Create their own Landfill to discover and develop new ways of producing Viable Energy Sources for the Future, Develop new Waste Processing Options like:

"From Pull-Tabbed Cans to Bottled Brands"

Why is it piped 26 Miles to UNH, where it supports 75% of their "Energy wants?"

Are Administrators Homes, located on Campus, also being provided this amenity?

The Strafford County Complex, is a mere, DeadSeagull's" throw away from Waste Management Land.

Here's an entity (The County) that's looking to build

$300 Million Dollars worth of space for a Rest Home.

Waste Management is a Publicly Traded Company. This would lead me to "Consider" that many here tonight may have a "Vested Financial Interest" in the success of Increasing Brand Development.

You'd think there'd be a full scale effort by City, State Politicians, and Delegates to "Aggressively Confront" the powers that be, to create a "Holistic" or "Kum by Ya" approach to Pressuring the Hierarchy to Capitulate.

For those listening in from my neighborhood on Chesley Hill Road, this means, To Give Up or to FOLD.

Someone is withholding the reasoning behind this Sham.

At this time you, State Representatives and County Delegates, must Seek Legislation to provide this ready source of fuel for this worthy enterprise, and support Strafford County's senior population.

In the future, OTHER projects may require this type of consideration.

Until then, on an evening drive down Pickering Road, enjoy the Burn-Off of thousands of pounds of excess gasses, into the night sky.

This ain't considered pollution? Really?

Drive along while singing that old Aerosmith Song:

"Ream On!"

- Lou Archambault,

Gonic (DumPity-Dump Village
