Veterans can get $20 voucher at today's Farmers Market

ROCHESTER -- The Rochester Farmers Market Vouchers for Veterans program begins today at the Commons.

The program allows all Strafford County residents who bring their DD214 or a valid driver's license bearing their veteran status to get a $20 voucher to spend at any of the market's vendors.

Benedict's Restaurant and its patrons raised $32,000 to support the Vouchers for Veterans program this year, enabling those who have served a chance to pick up fresh fruits, vegetables, produce, meats, cheeses and more from local vendors.

"We are beyond excited to provide this benefit to veterans in our community," Economic Development Specialist Jennifer Marsh said. "Our veterans committed themselves to defending our way of life, and we look forward to welcoming them to the market and thanking them for their service."

In addition to tomorrow's market, veterans will have four more opportunities to collect and use a voucher:

Tuesday, Sept. 5
Tuesday, Sept. 12
Tuesday, Sept. 19
Tuesday, Sept. 26

The Rochester Farmers Market season began on June 13 and will be held every Tuesday on the Rochester Common through the end of September.
