Updated: At least five firefighters reported injured in Berwick apartment house fire

BERWICK, Maine - At least five firefighters were injured today in a multi-unit Berwick apartment house fire that drew an immediate call for mutual aid.

A fourth alarm was struck soon after firefighters from several area towns were called to the scene at 10 Bell St., around 11:30 a.m.

Wentworth Douglass Hospital confirmed that all five firefighters were receiving treatment in their emergency room.

The identities and hometown units of the injured firefighters were not immediately released.

No civilians injuries had been reported.

Safety officials confirmed that two of the injured firefighters had been trapped inside the building but had gotten out and were being treated.

The large apartment building that became engulfed in flame is home to several units.

The roof of the building reportedly has collapsed.
