This is why we love September: The Great N.H. Pie Fest
Harrison Thorp 7 a.m.
MILTON - You might call it a "pie"-rennial favorite at the New Hampshire Farm Museum. The Great N.H. Pie Festival gives Granite State bakers a chance for bragging rights for the year when they lace up their aprons and put their best pie offerings on the table. This year the event takes place on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Farm Museum on White Mountain Highway in Milton. There are classes for both professional and amateur bakers, pie-making demonstrations and the crowd favorite, a children's pie-eating contest. Typically, there are several categories, like apple, fruit nonapple, cream and savory, which is made with meat. There is also a children's category. The event is the Farm Museum's biggest fund-raiser of the year. It runs from noon till the pie is gone. Tickets are $10 per person, $8 for members; children 4-17, $5, members $4; kids under 3 free. For more info go to farmmuseum.org. Below is a entry form.
