CONCORD - Governor Chris Sununu on Tuesday signed an executive order establishing the "Don't Overload the Code" initiative to extend the 603 Area Code and to prepare New Hampshire businesses for the eventuality of an additional area code.
"Our 603 Area Code is a point of pride in New Hampshire," said Sununu. "In order to ensure that '603' will remain New Hampshire's exclusive area code in the years to come, my sdministration is taking all available steps at our disposal, and we are confident that the actions taken in this executive order will help prolong the exhaustion date by many years -- giving residents and businesses peace of mind."

Many states across the country have had to load up multiple area codes to contend with the increased number of phone users.
