Strong wind advisory in effect Friday for Northern Seacoast, southwest York County

A wind advisory is in effect for the Greater Rochester area and southwest York County beginning early Friday.

The advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the likelihood of gusts up to 50 mph that could down tree limbs and power lines.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items that could be impacted by strong gusts.

Officials also warn that winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Safety reminders if you lose power:
Stay away from downed lines. No line is safe to touch - ever.
Turn off or unplug major appliances and sensitive electronics.
Never use ranges or outdoor stoves to heat your home.
