Somersworth fugitive tracked down by Marshals in Maine

CONCORD - A Somersworth man wanted for bail violations on a federal fentanyl trafficking charge was tracked down in Maine Monday night by U.S. Marshals.

Acting on a tip members from the public Joshua Joseph George, 39, was taken into custody around 5 p.m. in Lewiston, Maine by a fugitive task force.

George was being sought on a federal arrest warrant which was issued by the U.S. District Court in Concord. This warrant alleged George was in violation of his conditions of bail for the second time while awaiting trial on a conspiracy to distribute fentanyl charge.

George was previously arrested in November 2020 by members of the NH Joint Fugitive Task Force. He was released on bail and ordered by the court to attend drug treatment, from which he recently fled.

This past weekend, US Marshals in New Hampshire received multiple tips pointing investigators to a specific area of Lewiston, where their Maine counterparts moved quickly to apprehend George, who was safely arrested at a neighborhood residence.

George was transported to the Cumberland County Jail, where he was booked and held pending his initial court appearance today.
