Selectman Candidates Forum set for Feb. 27

LEBANON – A Candidates Forum is set for Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Lebanon Elementary School, and all five selectmen hopefuls have agreed to attend.

The forum will start at 7 p.m. with four rounds of candidate participation expected to allow residents a full appreciation of what is seen as a quality pool of candidates.

The first round will be an introductory round in which candidates will talk a little bit about themselves and what their major goals are for the town. The second will be for rebutting or expounding on any issues brought up in the first round.

The third round will use audience questions to initiate debate on other town issues. The forum will end with each candidates’ closing comments.

The field of five includes former selectman candidates’ Richard (Chip) Harlow III, Robie Marsters and Corinna Cole along with planning board member Paul Philbrick and political newcomer and transfer station employee Royce Heath.

At stake is a selectman’s seat to complete Cole’s three-year term, which runs until June 2015.

The special election is planned for March 11.

The forum is sponsored by The Lebanon Voice. The Lebanon Voice editor and publisher Harrison Thorp will moderate.
