Search under way for person seen jumping of I-95 bridge

PORTSMOUTH - State and local police are investigating a report that a person jumped off the I-95 Piscataqua Bridge on Wednesday.

A caller into police said that a little after 10 a.m. they witnessed an individual who climbed over the metal railing of the bridge and jump toward the water, according to a statement sent out by the state Dept. of Safety.

Emergency personnel from the New Hampshire State Police, Portsmouth Police Department, New Hampshire Fish and Game, New Hampshire Marine Patrol, and United States Coast Guard have worked extensively to locate the individual. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
