ROCHESTER - The man who is alleged to have held up a Rochester convenience store last month waived his probable cause hearing on Friday allowing the case to move to Strafford County Superior Court where it is likely a grand jury will indict him.
Benjamin Shannon, 34, of 2 Jackson St., Apt. 3, is charged with robbery and obstruction in connection with the Feb. 17 robbery at George and Ed’s convenience store where he is alleged to have brandished a silver pellet gun and demanded cash from the store clerk around 8 a.m.
The obstruction charge was allegedly for refusing to comply with police requests for DNA swabs, permission for which was obtained through a search warrant.
Shannon, who is said to be on detox from alcohol and drug dependency, was somewhat uncooperative with police upon his arrest, but did not offer any physical resistance.
A Rochester Police K-9 unit was used to track the suspect from George and Ed’s to his residence. Several witnesses also helped police locate the suspect.
