Rochester motorcyclist, rider hurt in Old Dover Rd. crash

ROCHESTER - A Rochester motorcyclist and his passenger were both injured on Sunday when they were thrown from their motorcycle after it failed to negotiate a curve on Old Dover Road.

The accident occurred around 4:25 p.m. in the area of the Spaulding Turnpike exit 11 off ramp.

After a short investigation it was learned that Robert Freeman, 51, was traveling south on Old Dover Road when his motorcycle, a Honda VTX, failed to negotiate the corner and left the roadway.

Freeman was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as serious injuries, while a male passenger was transported with what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries.

The Strafford County Technical Accident Reconstruction Team responded to record the accident. The motorcycle suffered extensive damage and was towed from the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
