ROCHESTER - A Rochester man escaped serious injuries Sunday when his car overturned on Hansonville Road near the intersection of Gear Road after trying to avoid another vehicle that had swerved into his lane, police said.

Responders got the call around 6:15 p.m. and responded to the area, where it was learned that Nicholas Boston, 26, of Rochester, was traveling southbound on Hansonville Road and approaching the intersection of Gear road in a Ford Focus when the accident occurred.

A witness reported that a red vehicle, unknown make and model, was traveling in the opposite direction and crossed the center line. Boston swerved to avoid the collision, left the roadway, and his vehicle slid down a snow-covered embankment and overturned, according to reports.

Boston suffered nonlife-threatening injuries and was not transported to the hospital. He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the incident, police said.

The accident remains under investigation.  Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Officer Pendlebury at 330-7127 or calls can be made to the Rochester Crimeline at 335-6500.
