Rochester has no plans to open cooling centers this weekend

ROCHESTER - If Rochester residents who have no AC are looking for a place to cool off this weekend, they'll have to hang out in a big box store or go to Dover.

As of this posting it appears the city of Rochester has no plans to open any cooling centers for Saturday and Sunday, which are predicted to be the two hottest days of the current five-day heat wave.
Rochester Public Information Officer Matt Wyatt said earlier in the week that City Hall and the Rochester Public Library would be open during regular business hours only.
Rochester City Hall and the library are both closed Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, Dover plans to have all three of its fire stations open as cooling centers 24 hours a day on both weekend days.
City Hall personnel in Somersworth said the public library would be open as a cooling center on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Rochester Fire Chief Dennis Dube, who also serves as Rochester's Emergency Operation Center chief, was not immediately available for comment.
