Rochester COVID cases continue as county high; hospitalizations dip into 40s

CONCORD - Rochester's active and monitored COVID-19 case load remained as it has the past several weeks, continuing to lead Strafford County with 15 current cases.

Meanwhile, DHHS officials announced on Wednesday an additional 27 new positive test results bringing the cumulative state total to 5,598, almost twice the number of cases identified in Maine.

One additional case was identified in Strafford County. Other local numbers show six in Dover, five in Somersworth and 1-4 in Farmington, Strafford, Barrington and Milton.

For the first time in many weeks no new hospitalized cases were announced, while the overall current hospitalizations fell to 49, the first time it has dipped into the 40s since the pandemic took hold in New Hampshire. Hospitalizations at their peak were in 130s.

DHHS also announced four additional deaths related to COVID-19, two from Hillsborough County and two from Rockingham County, all 60 or older.
