WAKEFIELD - The body of a Wakefield man whose disappearance in November led to numerous searches over the fall and winter has been found, according to family members and Wakefield police.

The Toussaint family released the news on Facebook, saying, "It's with the deepest sadness and heartache we regret to inform you that the body of Jacob Alex Toussaint has been recovered. Jacob was well loved by many as demonstrated by the unending and relentless search efforts. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

"While this is the worst case scenario, there is a peace that comes with closure."

It was just two days ago that Eric Toussaint, the brother of Jacob Toussaint, was seeking more donations to help in the search effort, even including hiring a private detective to help find him.

Today he wrote, "You are no longer in pain. You are no longer bothered by the daily stress to become someone. You have been in heaven for a while now. I hope you are settled in."

Jacob Toussaint, 22, was a graduate of Rochester's Bud Carlson Academy and grew up in Sanbornville.

He was first reported missing on Nov. 8 in the area of Old Stage Road in Wakefield.

As many as 100 searcher gathered at Thompson Ballfield in late November to search a large swath of land east of the ballfields.

Wakefield Police put out a press release on Wednesday confirming that the remains of Jacob Toussaint had been found in Wakefield, though no exact location was given.

They also said the manner of death was under investigation.
