Police seek help ID'ing man who attacked teenage girl leaving gym

ROCHESTER - Rochester Police are hoping someone from the public can help them identify the suspect in a vicious beating of a woman assaulted while walking to her car from the Planet Fitness on North Main Street.

Police responded to the report of a violent assault on June 12 around 10 p.m. where it was learned that the 18-year-old reported she was walking out to her car when she was assaulted from behind.

She was punched multiple times and thrown to the ground after which the male suspect got in his car and drive away.

On Tuesday Rochester Police received surveillance video of the incident, which is graphic showing the victim being punched around 40 times as well as being thrown to the ground and kneed in the head.

Police are not releasing the video due to its graphic nature, but are hoping for the public's help in identifying the suspect.

He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, shorts, white sneakers, a baseball hat, and sunglasses. It is believed the vehicle he fled in was a light colored Ford Fusion or similar vehicle.

Despite the severity of the beating, the victim did not sustain major injuries, police say.
