ROCHESTER - A Rochester man is dead after he apparently shot himself following a domestic violence incident at a residence on Sunrise Drive.

Rochester Police first received a 911 call around 6:40 a.m. today from a resident who indicated she had been shot by her husband and that her husband had then shot and killed himself.

When Rochester Police, Fire and paramedics arrived at the home they found a 45-year-old woman with serious injuries and a 47-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Rochester Police are investigating the incident as an alleged attempted murder-suicide, but the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause and manner of death.

A neighbor who did not want to be identified said she had little to say except there were children in the household and she worried about them.

There is no danger to the community, and this does not appear to be a random act, police said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the incident continues, police say.
