Performance, arts center preview party set for June 8

ROCHESTER - The Rochester Opera House will hold a special preview party for the new Rochester Performance & Arts Center in the former Carney Medical Supply location, in downtown Rochester.

Contractors have worked hard to uncover and restore some original features of the building. Brick walls and tin ceilings had been covered in various attempts to "modernize" the space over the years. Details of the ceilings and walls have been restored and will be on full display.

This Performance & Arts Center, slated to open this summer, will combine versatile studio and performance spaces, art gallery and comprehensive arts and educational programming for adults, teens, and students, in a comfortable and uniquely supportive environment.

This new initiative will foster a safe community for performers and artists to develop confidence, character, and creativity. The Performance & Arts Center will offer a number of programs designed to suit particular interests, including, but not limited to, courses in the practices and processes of creating music, dance, art, theatre, and live performances.

The Rochester Opera House's 'arts for all' mission continues to grow and thrive because of the support from individual contributors, naming opportunities, and corporate/business sponsorships. Financial contributions are crucial to the growth and success of the Performance & Arts Center. There are sponsorship's available at various donation levels. There will be representatives on site to answer any questions during the preview party.

The preview party/reception will take place at 32 North Main Street on June 8 from 5-7 p.m. There will be complimentary refreshments served. The public is encouraged to attend. Visit www.rochesteroperahouse.com for more information.
