CORNISH - An Oregon man is deceased after being struck by a vehicle on a historic covered bridge connecting New Hampshire and Vermont.

According to a Dept. of Safety press release, at 12:43 p.m. on December 18 while responding to a crash on Route 12A, State Troopers were alerted by bystanders of a crash on the nearby Cornish-Windsor covered bridge.

On the bridge, Troopers located a man later identified as Michael Iwanchuk, 52, of Beaverton, Ore., who had been struck by a 2011 Ford Ranger while walking on the bridge. Iwanchuk was treated at the scene before he was transported to an area hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

The driver of the Ford remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigators. No charges have been filed at this time; however, all aspects of the crash remain under investigation.
