One dead, one injured in Wakefield head-on collision

WAKEFIELD - A head-on collision in Wakefield on Saturday left one motorist dead and another injured.

The crash occurred around 11:20 a.m. when Wakefield police say a vehicle headed northbound just north of the Union intersection crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound vehicle.

The driver and sole occupant of the northbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Erick Laboy, of Loxahatchee, Fla., the driver in the southbound car, was transported to Huggins Hospital for unspecified injuries. He was not listed as being at the hospital today.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Wakefield Police Department.

Wakefield Police had no additional information today regarding the identity of the deceased.

The accident closed White Mountain Highway for an extended period of time. Wakefield fire, police and ambulance as well as Milton police and fire responded to the accident.
