NEWINGTON, N.H. - Florence M. Chasse, 83, died surrounded by family members, Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Langdon Place in Dover, where she had been a resident. She was born on Sept. 29, 1930, the daughter of the late Albert and Exilia (Lessard) Gagne. Flo, as she was known by all, was born and raised in Rochester, where she graduated from Holy Rosary High School in 1948, after attending Villa Augustina Academy in Goffstown. She married her husband of 54 years, Adrien N. Chasse, in 1950 and together they raised five children. They lived throughout New England returning to Rochester in 1972. She was active in her church, Holy Rosary Church of Rochester, and was a member of the Ladies of St. Ann, where she was once named Woman of the year and was a member of the bereavement committee. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 69 of Somersworth, NH the Rochester Historical Society and the Friends of the Rochester Library. Flo retired from General Electric in Somersworth, in 1991 and enjoyed camping and traveling.

She left Rochester in 2008 to live with her daughter in Newington. Florence was predeceased by her husband Adrien in 2004, and a brother Raymond and sister Ferne Cook.

She is survived by her five children, Claire Karnehm of Norwood, Mass., Celeste Reid and husband Dave of Derry, Camille Upson and husband Larry of Newington, Charles Chasse and his wife Terry of Sanford, Maine and James Chasse and his wife Marie of Saucier, Miss., seven grandchildren, Andrew and Daniel Reid, Brad and Gretchen Upson, Angela Kepner, Rebeca and Jessica Chasse, and two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Allie Kepner. She is also survived by a sister Theresa Blouin and brother Joseph (Richard) Gagné and several nieces and nephews.
