ROCHESTER - There were nearly 40 Christmas trees dressed to the nines for Saturday's finale of the Festival of Trees, but two entries had attendees, specifically younguns, agape with Christmas longing and wonder.

The two trees depicted Santa Claus and Frosty the Snowman, and not only did gift cards, baubles and trinkets adorn the trees' branches, but beneath them were scores of toys, games and dozens of other gifts.
Rochester Main Street board member and event coordinator Lori Gay said in all there were 36 trees entered in the festival and some 200 visitors a day had turned out to view and vie for the trees, which were all decked out with plenty of holiday cheer and goodies at Studley's Flower Gardens on Wakefield Street.

She said she was thrilled with the turnout and that all the money raised through ticket sales goes to the nonprofit Rochester Main Street.

"All the proceeds will help fund Rochester kids programs during the summer," Gay added.
There were also 11 silent auctions including a visit from the Grinch on Christmas Eve, a dinner date at the Scenic Lounge and a cooking experience with Chef Leffler from Revolution Taproom & Grill.
