DOVER - The New Hampshire Department of Transportation will perform nighttime construction work starting on Tuesday night on the Spaulding Turnpike (Route 16) in Dover. This work will require lane closures to facilitate milling and paving operations for approximately two weeks.

The work will be on the northbound and southbound lanes of the Spaulding Turnpike between Exit 6 (Mile Marker 5.0) and Mile Marker 6.2, in the area of the old Dover Toll Plaza.

Weather permitting, construction will begin around 6 p.m. each night and ending the following morning by 6 a.m.

Uniformed Police Officers and traffic control devices will be used to direct and inform traffic. Motorists should exercise caution when driving through the construction zone.

Road Users are encouraged to sign up for free, real-time construction and traffic related messages (text or email) from https://newengland511.org/.

The work is part of the Dover-Rochester 29440 project. RS Audley of Bow is the prime contractor for the $23 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in November 2024.
