CONCORD - It's not the darkest days of the pandemic earlier this year when close to a 1,000 new cases were often reported daily, but there's no doubt about it that new COVID-19 cases are surging once again, up from 16 on July 6 to 169 on Tuesday.

Tuesday's new cases included 29 minors and 15 from Strafford County and seven from Carroll County.

DHHS also announced one additional death related to COVID-19, a woman from Hillsborough County over 60.

There are currently 37 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19, almost triple the number a month ago.

The number of current cases in the state is 850, compared to 181 on July 6.

While some areas around the country are again mandating masks, New Hampshire government guidance is still not requiring them. A survey of several Rochester big box stores today shows they also continue to require no masks, although many do require they be worn by employees.
