Staff reports 8:36 a.m.
BEDFORD - One person was arrested for driving under the influence after a crash at the Bedford tolls this weekend. The crash occurred around a little after 5 p.m. on Friday drawing state police to the southbound tolls. When they arrived they found a Ford Ranger pickup truck with severe disabling damage in a tollbooth lane. The initial investigation determined the pickup was traveling south when it crossed a concrete divider and subsequently struck the concrete enclosure of a tollbooth. The driver, identified as Jane Powell, 39, of Nashua, was able to exit the vehicle and was later transported to Elliot Hospital with minor injuries. No tollbooth workers were hurt. Due to the crash, two E-ZPass lanes were closed for the investigation and removal of debris for about 90 minutes. One E-ZPass lane remains closed until it can be serviced at a later time. Powell was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and reckless conduct. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has information that could assist in the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Matthew Howe at Matthew.S.Howe@dos.nh.gov.
