Man dancing along Milton Road nabbed on heroin possession

ROCHESTER - An Alton man apparently impaired from drugs or alcohol was found dancing in the road along Milton Road Sunday leading to his arrest on a slew of charges, including resisting arrest, falsifying physical evidence and heroin possession.

Rochester Police first got the call around 4:15 p.m. for the a man dancing and singing along Route 125, proving a hazard for passing motorists.

When police arrived the man was near Lone Oak Ice Cream.

As officers sought to detain him for questioning he took off running, but was caught soon after.

Prior to being taken into custody he discarded a baggie next to him trying to conceal it, which ended up being heroin, Rochester Police Capt. Jason Thomas said today.

Nicholas Bickford, 35, of 177 Suncook Valley Road, Alton, was charged with resisting arrest, drug possession, disorderly conduct and falsifying physical evidence.

He was being held on $500 cash bail pending arraignment later today.
