CONCORD - A Hopkinton man was arrested on Friday after he allegedly attacked his taxi driver with a knife.

Dax David Duclos, 44, was charged with felony second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threatening with a deadly weapon.

Police got involved in the fare from hell encounter a little after 8 p.m. when State Police out of Troop D received a report of an assault that took place on Interstate 89 North in the city of Concord.

A taxi driver from Main Street Taxi service reported he was assaulted by his passenger while driving on Interstate 89 and had pulled over to defend himself from the assailant.

A brief fight ensued on the side of the roadway, but the driver was able to escape and drove to the Troop D barracks in Concord to report the incident, police said in a statement released early this morning.

Duclos left his wallet and a small pocketknife used in the assault inside the taxi.

He was later located walking in the breakdown lane on Interstate 89 North in the area of mile marker 4.4 where he was taken into custody without incident by Trooper Anthony Cattabriga and his K9 partner Jacob.

Duclos was uninjured but highly intoxicated.

He will be arraigned at a later date at the Merrimack Superior Court.

The taxi driver did not sustain any serious injuries and was treated by Concord EMS before being released.
