DAYTON, Maine - A Maine motorcyclist died on Monday after his bike clipped the driver's side of a sedanwhile trying to pass.
Police were called to the intersections of Route 5 and River Road in Dayton around 8 p.m.
The vehicles motorcycle and a sedan were both traveling westbound at the time of the crash, a statement from the Maine Dept. of Safety said today.
Police say a preliminary investigation shows that the driver of the motorcycle, 18-year-old Ian Lajoie of Dayton, was passing in the left lane and clipped the front driver's side of the sedan as it was turning.
Lajoie was pronounced dead at the scene. Three occupants in the sedan were evaluated at the scene and were determined to have no injuries.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
