ROCHESTER - Scott Marshall and Lisa Poulin of Rochester wanted to create a comfortable downtown restaurant where regular folk could come in and enjoy a nice meal and maybe a cocktail or beer.

With the new Magrilla's on Hanson Street it looks like the pair have created just that, an unpretentious space of comfort food and camaraderie.

A 26-seat horseshoe bar with its metal roofing outer wall and shiny, bar resin top dominates the optics as you enter the eatery.

On the menu there are many typical pub favorites and some different ones as well like the sweet and spicy sriracha chicken, with grilled chicken bites wrapped in bacon, deep fried and served with spicy sriracha sauce.

The menu specials change weekly, not daily, to give customers a more generous timeframe to sample menu offerings, said Marshall, who previously lived in Portmsouth.

Marshall said the food is getting great reviews and he's happy with the way his clientele has progressed since the restaurant's November opening.

Magrilla's is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Sunday to Wednesday and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

You can check them out on Facebook, key word Margrilla's.
