DOVER - Lawton Chandler Allen died on Nov. 26, 2023, at the age of 92 in Dover. Lawton was born on March 11, 1931, in Goffstown. Whether skiing Tuckerman Ravine, driving and repairing tractors, riding horses or driving boats (frequently into misadventures!), or learning how to stick a screwdriver into an air filter to open a carburetor, Lawton loved his family and taught them how to savor life! Lawton also received a masters degree in business from Xavier University in Cincinnati, was honored by being inducted into the Kentucky Colonels, retired from General Electric, and then started the next chapter of his life, pursuing the wily trout and hitting the snowmachine trails in Rangeley, Maine, where he lived for many years. He was also part of the Sugarloaf mountain ski ambassador group, where he made many friends with whom he enjoyed both sunny and snowy days on the slope and a cold beer after a hard day! Lawton is predeceased by his wife, Alyce Anne O'Brien, and is survived by his four children; Kathleen and Allan Cawrse of York, Maine; Rebecca Anctil of Rochester; Michael and Katherine Allen of Dumfries, Va; and Matthew Allen of Niceville, Fla. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his partner, Jo-An Armstrong, with whom he enjoyed the last 13 years of his life.
