Jury selection for city man accused in Summer Street shooting begins on Monday

DOVER - Jury selection begins Monday at 9 a.m. in Strafford Superior Court in the trial of a Rochester man accused in an April shooting on Summer Street in Rochester. Jason Levesque, 45, of 41 Summer St., faces charges of attempted murder, which can draw a life sentence; and first-degree assault that is punishable by up to 15 years in state prison. The shooting incident unfolded in the area of 41-43 Summer St. around 10:20 p.m. on April 4 as Rochester Police responded to a report of several gun shots fired. Upon arrival they found a male victim, 38-year-old Kyle Violette, on the sidewalk with several gunshot wounds. Officers administered care to stop the bleeding until Fire and EMS personnel arrived on scene, according to a statement the next day from Rochester Police. Violette was transported by Frisbie EMS to Frisbie Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Portsmouth Regional Hospital. As a result of n scene investigation Levesque was charged with attempted second degree murder, second degree assault and reckless conduct. Strafford Superior Court Judge Andrew B Livernois will oversee the trial. Assistant County Attorney Joachim Barth will lead the proseution while Chichester Attorney Mark Sisti will represent Levesque.
