ROCHESTER - Joanne L. Knowles, 72, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, N.H., after a period of failing health. Joanne was born in Bangor, Maine, on November 1, 1943, the daughter of Gordon and Elsie (Boise) Crossley.
She resided in Rochester for the past 27 years, moving from Worcester, Mass. She was a member of the Marlboro Fish and Game Club, loved bingo and going to Foxwoods. She was predeceased by a daughter, Edith Dauphinais.
Surviving members of the family include: her husband, Robert Knowles of Rochester, N.H., four daughters, Brenda Chase of Middleboro, Mass., Pamela Benedetti of Malden, Mass., Norma Jean Fox of Worcester, Mass., and Theresa Sawyer of Manchester, N.H. Fifteen grandchildren, of whom three she raised Samantha Clark, Shavanna Lavenskie and Joanna Kelley, thirteen great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
