The Greater Rochester area will be under an unusual dual threat today with a heat advisory for temperatures approaching the 90s with very high dew points, plus a flood watch as strong thunderstorms move in this afternoon.
Temperatures around 82 with extremely high humidity will make it feel like it's 91 degrees as early as 11 a.m.
Meanwhile, an area flood watch begins at noon and continues till 8 p.m.
By 1 p.m. the high temp for the day will have been achieved with a heat index of 98 degrees.
Expect no relief overnight either. By 11 p.m. it will still be in the 70s and the overnight low will be just 68, forecasters say.
Friday will almost be as bad, with a high of 93, with hot, hazy and humid conditions resulting in a heat index as high as 99.

Both Thursday and Friday afternoons could see powerful thunderstorms with damaging winds and even the possibility of an isolated tornado.

Saturday showers finally usher in some cooler weather through the weekend and into next week.
Long-range forecasts then show show daily highs in the 70s almost through mid-August.

The city of Rochester normally makes cooling stations available at City Hall and the Rochester Public Library during high heat events.
