Head-on York crash claims life of 52-year-old motorcyclist

YORK - A motorcyclist was killed on Saturday when his bike collided with another vehicle in York.

Police responded to the area of 535 Shore Road around 12:40 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls for a serious accident.

Once on scene emergency crews found that an Audi Q7 operated by a 38-year-old male had crashed head-on with a Kawasaki motorcycle operated by a 52-year-old male.

The operator of the motorcycle, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene despite rescue efforts.

Shore Road was closed to motor vehicle traffic for several hours while the crash was investigated. Anyone who has any knowledge or may have witnessed this incident can contact Ptl. Scott Randall or Det. Jamie Robie at the York Police Department at 207-363-4444.
