ROCHESTER - Harold Warren Blackstone, 77, of 430 Ledgeview Drive, died Sunday January, 1, 2017 at his home after a long illness. Born February 2, 1939, in North Yarmouth, Maine, he was the son of the late Herbert and Marjorie (Loring) Blackstone. He is predeceased by his brother Frank.
Harold grew up in Freeport, Maine. He participated in basketball and the swim team in high school. He was honorably discharged after service on the USS Diamond Head. He was a Past Master of the Nollesemic Lodge #205 in Millinocket, Maine and a 32-degree Mason in the Anah Shrine of the Scottish Rite. After retiring from his meat cutting job at Shaw's in 2005 he moved to Punta Gorda, Fla. As a member of the AMYA, he enjoyed building and racing his RC sailboat. He was an avid cribbage player.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Joan (Whitten), his children Scott Blackstone, Lori Blackstone, Bruce Blackstone his wife Kate, six grandchildren and his sisters Jane Cleaves and Joan Kalbach of Yarmouth, Maine.
