Grandma ponies up to clear kids' school lunch tabs

ROCHESTER - An anonymous philanthropist has begun paying the late lunch bills for Rochester school students.

The donor, a grandmother of a McClelland Elementary School student, has cleared some school tabs already and will complete her payments later this year.

The Rochester School Department released a statement regarding the city's financial Good Samaritan saying, "We are incredibly moved by the generosity of one of our residents, a grandmother, who came forward offering to pay down the lunch balances of students. It is a fantastic lesson in pay-it-forward for our students. We are respecting the wishes of the resident for privacy, but we are incredibly grateful."
