Foot chase through IHOP leads to city transient's arrest on dozen charges

ROCHESTER - A sharp-eyed Rochester Police officer spotted a known wanted subject at Rochester Crossing on Sunday, leading to his arrest but not before a foot chase through IHOP's kitchen and into nearby woods.

The incident unfolded around 1:35 p.m. when an off-duty Rochester Police Officer spotted a known wanted subject in his vehicle at the Rochester Crossing parking lot at 160 Washington St.

The officer called dispatch, and police units responded. The male eventually parked in front of IHOP and was headed into the eatery when officers arrived.

The male fled then through the restaurant, and ran out the back door fleeing on foot into the woods. After a short foot chase, police arrested Chad J. Dandeneau, 47, no known address, without further incident.

Resisting Arrest/Detention (A Misdemeanor) - occurred 7/4/21

Driving After Suspension - subsequent (B Misdemeanor) - occurred 7/4/21

Fugitive from Justice - State of Maine

(3) Bench Warrants

Seabrook, NH Warrants

Theft by Unauthorized Taking (A Misdemeanor) - occurred 5/28/21

Reckless Conduct - deadly weapon (B Felony) - occurred 6/14/21

Resisting Arrest/Detention (A Misdemeanor) - occurred 6/14/21

Reckless Operation (Violation) - occurred 6/14/21

Disobeying an Officer (A Misdemeanor) - occurred 6/14/21

Driving After Suspension - subsequent (B Misdemeanor) - occurred 6/14/21

The June 14 incident occurred as Rochester Police attempted to apprehend Dandeneau on Farmington Road, but he fled in his vehicle.

Dandeneau refused bail, and is scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday.
