EAST LEBANON - A Lebanon teenager and her year-old passenger were among five people injured on Sunday in a two-car collision on Route 202.
The crash occurred near Lebanon House of Pizza in East Lebanon around 6:30 p.m.
It was reported that a Nissan Altima traveling East on Carl Broggi Highway went to make a left turn into a driveway and did not see a westbound Dodge Stratus and they collided, according to a press release from Lebanon Rescue.
The Altima was spun around and landed in a ditch, while the Stratus spun around ending up in the eastbound lane.
Four ambulances transported five patients to Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Dover and Goodall Hospital in Sanford.
Neither the extent nor the severity of the injuries was noted in the press release.
An emergency room doctor passing through the area stopped to assist with the injured, noted Lebanon Assistant Rescue Chief Jason Cole.
The occupants of the Stratus, a 19-year-old female and her rear seat passenger, a 1-year-old female, both from Lebanon, were transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
The 18-year-old driver of the Nissan, along with his two passengers, a 20-year-old male from Rochester and a 19-year-old female from Dover, were transported to Goodall.
Carl Broggi Highway was closed to all traffic until 7:35 p.m. when the vehicles were removed.
Both vehicles suffered extensive damage and were towed from the scene.
The accident is under investigation by Maine State Police.
