NORTHUMBERLAND - The victim of a fatal fire that occurred on Friday in Northumberland has been identified.

Safety officials announced on Saturday that the victim of the fire at 89 Old Village Road was 70-year-old Janet B. Deforrest of Northumberland. The fire was first reported around 6 a.m.

The Fire Marshal's Office ruled the death was due to smoke inhalation and was accidental.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
