Dover sex offender took own life by hanging on 2nd day in prison

CONCORD - A Dover man convicted of multiple counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault against a teenage girl hanged himself while inside the New Hampshire Men's Prison in Concord, prison officials announced on Tuesday.

A coroner determined the manner of death of Lawrence Pilla was suicide..

Pilla, 61, was convicted on several charges of assault on the victim whom he knew over a five-year period. He was serving a 20- to 60-year sentence.

Pilla pleaded guilty on all charges on Nov. 8, was remanded to prison immediately and took his own life the next day.
