It could be boredom, or lack of oxygen, or maybe just catching. (Courtesy photo)

Everyone knows that yawns are infectious. In fact, according to WebMD, "Contagious yawning is well documented and occurs in response to seeing, thinking or hearing about yawning. Even looking at a picture can trigger a yawn." But a recent Japan study took it a step further with our canine friends, finding that dogs can "catch" human yawns. I know I've caught yawns from my dog, and she's caught them from me. Even if I sigh, sometimes she'll let out a kind of doggie sigh. So, rather than a revelation, this new info is really just a confirmation of what most of us dog owners already knew. The bond is very strong, even physiologically. One last thing. I've never seen my cat yawn after I do. Just sayin'.
