Dangerous heat will hang around at least one more day, so be careful out there

Forecasters say there's little chance of rain or thunderstorms until Saturday afternoon.

It's the tail end of a stretch of intolerable heat, but now's no time to let down your guard.

Today's heat values will be the worst of the current heat wave with a humidity index of up to 105 degrees.

A heat advisory already in place won't end till 8 tonight, according to Accuweather, and health officials urge folks working outside to take plenty of precautions. Those include doing heavy physical exertion only in early morning or evening hours, drinking plenty of fluids and wearing loose fitting clothing when possible.
OSHA also recommends taking frequent work breaks or working only in shaded or air conditioned environments.

Also make sure to keep an eye on young children and pets for signs of heat distress.
Today's high is expected to be around 93 by around 3 p.m. with a heat index value of 102.

Temps will still be in the high 80s at 6 p.m. when the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce Raffle Bash gets under way at the Governor's Inn.

There's little chance of rain or thunderstorms until Saturday afternoon.
Sunday will begin a nice three-day stretch of pleasant weather with highs in the low 80s before humidity begins building again.
