CONCORD - Police believe a medical emergency suffered by an elderly Concord man was the primary cause of a crash on Interstate 393 East near Exit 2.

Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop D barracks responded to the report of a motor vehicle crash around 6:50 on Wednesday.

Upon arrival, Troopers identified the vehicle as a 2022 Ford Mustang being operated by Michel Vaillant, 80, of Concord.

The vehicle had extensive damage and appeared to have struck the cement jersey barrier multiple times before coming to rest in the high-speed lane. After conducting an initial investigation and speaking to roadside witnesses, Troopers and EMS personnel believed this crash to be the result of a medical emergency.

The operator was transported to Concord Hospital with life threatening injuries, while the juvenile passenger was evaluated by EMS and found to be uninjured.

The roadway was closed for about 2 1/2 hours to support the roadside investigation.
