Claire Powers ... longtime nurse at Frisbie; at 74

Claire Powers, 74, of Barrington died on Monday April 8. Claire passed peacefully while at home surrounded by family members.

She was born on Oct. 27, 1949, in Newark, N.J., the daughter of the late William Carlin and Lucille Carlin (Law). Claire married her husband Michael Powers on July 10, 1968, and started a family while still residing in New Jersey. Claire dedicated her life to raising her three children, but she also made time to support those in her community by volunteering with the local first aid department. Claire and her family left the cold winters of New Jersey behind and relocated to Florida. After her children grew, Claire went back to school to obtain an Associates Degree in Nursing from Palm Beach Community College and started a long and rewarding career as a nurse.

Claire has resided in New Hampshire for more than twenty two years previously living in West Palm Beach, FL. Columbia, SC, and of course her home state of New Jersey. Her move to New Hampshire, or "back to the cold" as she called it, was to be around her three children who had relocated there over the years. Claire continued her career as a nurse while living in New Hampshire. She touched the lives of countless patients, their loved ones, and hospital staff during her long tenure as a nurse at Frisbie Memorial Hospital.

Claire is predeceased by her husband Michael Powers. She is survived by her loving family; sons, Ty and wife Carrie Powers, Dover, Bill and wife Jennifer Powers, Rochester; daughter, Amanda and husband Scott Mertens, Barrington; six beautiful grandchildren; Riley and Brayden Powers, Amy Powers, Haley Butler, Lily and Michael Mertens and many nieces, nephews.

Claire will be sorely missed by all.
