City's annual hydrant flushing begins next Sunday

ROCHESTER - The City of Rochester will be flushing fire hydrants from next Sunday to the end of May. The majority of flushing will be scheduled from 10 a.m. to 7 a.m. and should be completed within 6 weeks.

As a result of flushing, some slight discoloration may be noticed in residents' water. If discoloration occurs it may clear up if cold water is run for several minutes. Customers may also experience low water pressure while flushing is in progress. Customers are urged to check their water for these types of issues before bathing or doing laundry.

If residents have any questions or concerns, or if discoloration will not clear, please contact the Rochester Public Works Department during regular business hours, Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, at (603) 332-4096.
