ROCHESTER - A Rochester woman was arrested for driving drunk after she crashed her car on Pickering Road late Tuesday night.

Nicole Higgins, 37, was injured in the accident and taken with minor injuries to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital where she was later arrested and charged with DWI.

The accident occurred a little before 10 p.m. when a motor vehicle accident with airbag deployment was reported in the area of 626 Pickering Road. The caller reported that there was no one around the vehicle. In addition, a female operator had been seen in the area of the vehicle by a passerby about 10 minutes earlier, but the passerby had not noticed that the vehicle had been involved in an accident at the time, according to a press release.

Rochester and Dover police began checking the area in their respective jurisdictions for anyone that may have been involved in the accident.

After a short investigation it was learned that a 2006 Buick Rainier had veered off the road and struck a tree causing heavy front end damage.

A K-9 track was initiated and a female matching the description of the registered owner of the vehicle was located a short while later in the grass just over the Dover line.

Higgins was ultimately released on personal recognizance with an arraignment later this month.
