City residents urged to take care when visiting city's recreational areas

ROCHESTER - City officials on Friday cautioned residents about touching surfaces while visiting the city's parks and playgrounds to recreate and exercise. Rochester's outdoor trails and recreational sites remain open, but the city is not wiping down playground equipment, picnic benches or any other surfaces in recreational areas. Residents should be aware of the possible spread of COVID-19 and practice caution when visiting parks or city trails for exercise, including maintaining at least 6 feet of distance between yourself and others when outside and not participating in team or contact sports such as basketball, football, softball or soccer. Cookouts are also not permitted in any Rochester parks, until further notice. Families should practice social distancing with their children and follow guidelines from state and local health officials:
