City man injured in hit-and-run accident

ROCHESTER - A Rochester man was injured on Monday in a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Portland Street and Columbus Ave.

Rochester Police got the call around 2 p.m. and responded to the intersection of Portland Street and Columbus Avenue for a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.  

Preliminary investigation revealed that Keith O'Connell, 48, of Rochester, was crossing on Portland Street when he was struck by a southbound vehicle that fled the scene. O'Connell described the vehicle as a gold Chevrolet pickup truck.    

O'Connell was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation. Rochester Police are asking anyone who may have information that could assist with this investigation to call Officer Ouellette at 330-7128.
