ROCHESTER - The Rochester Public Library is expanding its services with the all-new "Library of Things," a collection that allows patrons to borrow more than just books, magazines, and movies.

According to Library Director Marie Lejuene, the new collection is a "great way to try things out without having to buy them yourself."

"Most of us have bought things for a specific use, or because we are convinced we'll use them a lot, only to end up with them sitting in the basement collecting dust," said Lejeune. "The Library of Things saves you money and storage space!"

Currently, a dozen objects are available for borrowing, including:

  • Cornhole set
  • Ukulele starter kit
  • Karaoke machine
  • Metal detector
  • Home theater projector
  • Telescope

The list of "Things" offered will expand, based on community interest and feedback. Items from this collection will circulate for 1 week and be eligible for 1 renewal as long as there are no holds.
